Feeling of the day: "Missing"

May 11, 2008 / by juniorsodi

Could you define how good or bad missing a person or something can be?

Defining ‘missing’ can be almost impossible to me…

Thesaurus might define it as “feel the absence of”.

Sometimes, we miss things even when they are near or present with us. Missing before the goodbye is one of those things?

Do you miss that toy from your childhood? Does it make your feeling less important than missing your grand’s? – I don’t think so. However, missing a toy can be a feeling of joy. Missing your grand’s might recall your memories. What if your memories are full of flashes of times you played with that toy while your grand’s were around?

Difficult to define.

Do we miss the person or the moments we spent with this one?

Can you help me building a missing memory based on the comments you are going to write???

Sinceramente, o que sinto mais saudade são os dias que ainda não vivi. Esses sim são o que realmente me fazem falta.

I like the comment above and I add something: "...eu tive um sonho a muito não sonhava lembranças do futuro que agente imaginava... ...lembranças do futuro que agente merecia..."

(Engenheiros do hawaii-Não consigo odiar ninguém)

Let´s try to translate "...I had a dream, I hadn´t dreamed for a long time memories of a future that we used to imagine...memories of a future that we deseved..."

that´s one point of view the other one for me would be that the missing feeling happens when there´s a hole at any area of my life so I look for fullfilment at "anything" I mean anybody, anywhere and son on . . .

for example at this moment I am listening to the song I just referred to and i miss eng do Hawaii concert i went last november i ´d like to be there right now singing and dancing kkkkkk that´s my be another kind of missing feeling

    whatever

Hm... Missing... I do believe that we might miss either the person or the moment, it depends... It's like. Uh... I miss, sometimes, my childhood - maybe the things I did and the ones I didin't -, so I look at the pictures, at my toys and so on. And I might miss a person, then I would rather cry alone and silently.

I understand that Missing is feeling the absence of something. The thing about the presence or not is simple. It's quite similar to the difference between alone and lonely. You're alone when there's no one around, but you're lonely when the people around you are not company, are not partners, are not meaningful... You miss someone because this person meant something - or still means - to you. You miss a thing when this thing means something, you miss a place when this place is too important and you might miss a feeling, perhaps for its relevance in your life, you know?
